          Believe it or not time is fast approaching when the Vocational School will be celebrating 50 years in existence. To celebrate this memorable event it is intended to publish a magazine to mark those years. An Internal school committee has been formed and already, by word of mouth, offers of help and some historical work have been received. This internal organising committee would now like to formally invite past pupils to come on board and offer memories of their time spent in DVS.

Your help will be welcome in interviewing, writing, helping to compile records, submitting photos etc. Photos received will be scanned and returned to sender as soon as possible. We are particularly interested in speaking with those who have been involved in organising past pupil reunions or who may have ambitions to organise one in the near future.

Details will be on the school website and a special email has been set up dvsfifty@gmail.com. Bernie, the school secretary, can be contacted at 0719641085. This number also on website www.dvs.ie.

Those of you who have face book please copy and spread the word. The internal school committee consists of John King, Carmel Fitzpatrick, Aidan McKeon, Eugene Rooney, Kevin McManus and Joanne Dunne. Already Padraig McLoughlin, Brendan Canning, Pat Joe Greenan, Maura O’Connell and Roisin Gannon have indicated their interest in helping out. To date we have received a very interesting newspaper report from 1964  from Padraig Noone , a school photo from 1970 , the booklet produced by the 1982-87/88 class when they had their reunion courtesy of Denis O’Brien and a cd of the recent past pupils reunion of the class 1978-83(84) from Cyril McKeon( made by Charlie Gibbons in 2008).

Already since the newspaper notice a man visiting Limerick rang up saying he was enquiring on behalf of a past pupil in England who wished to write an article. But we got no name. This contact is a boost . If anyone reading this knows who it is, please let us know. Contact by phone or post is fine if email not fancied. We will contact back.
