The Connacht Finals of Track & Field took place in Dangan, Galway with 3
students from DVS having qualified through the regionals two weeks earlier.
It may have been a small group going to Galway but what a result with a gold,
silver and bronze brought back to Leitrim. Firstly Dylan McGowan came
third in the Inter Boys, 400m hurdles. Then Michael Murphy won the Inter
Boys High Jump with a jump of 1m 65cm. This was a great effort as he only
jumped 1m 45 in the Regional qualifiers. Finally, Aine Tighe capped off a
great day for the school by coming second in the Junior Girls 75 m hurdles.
Indeed she had a great battle with the winner and was just pipped on the line
for the gold. Michael and Aine now qualify for the All-Ireland finals in
Tullamore on June 2nd.
